Elles sont responsables de plus de 700 000 d\u00e9c\u00e8s par an et 80 % de la population mondiale est expos\u00e9e \u00e0 ce risque. L'Afrique est l'une des r\u00e9gions du monde les plus touch\u00e9es par les maladies \u00e0 transmission vectorielle, le paludisme y tuant \u00e0 lui seul plus de 500 000 personnes chaque ann\u00e9e.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces statistiques pr\u00e9occupantes soulignent la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de trouver des solutions innovantes pour compl\u00e9ter les outils existants. Les approches g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques de la lutte antivectorielle, telles que les moustiques g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9s, constituent une voie prometteuse. Photo : ACEME : ACEME&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>L'ACEME a pour objectif de fournir aux scientifiques africains un cadre d'apprentissage et de d\u00e9veloppement de comp\u00e9tences avanc\u00e9es en g\u00e9nie g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, y compris celles li\u00e9es au d\u00e9veloppement de moustiques g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9s. Pour pr\u00e9parer la cr\u00e9ation du centre, nous avons renforc\u00e9 les capacit\u00e9s de notre \u00e9quipe en ing\u00e9nierie mol\u00e9culaire et en sciences r\u00e9glementaires. Photo : ACEME : ACEME<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2024, apr\u00e8s approbation des autorit\u00e9s r\u00e9glementaires comp\u00e9tentes, nous avons import\u00e9 une souche de moustiques non g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9s appel\u00e9e \"G3\" de nos partenaires de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keele.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">l'universit\u00e9 de Keele<\/a>. Nos chercheurs travaillent actuellement sur cette souche dans le laboratoire, qui est enti\u00e8rement \u00e9quip\u00e9 pour r\u00e9pondre aux directives internationales et aux r\u00e9glementations nationales en mati\u00e8re de confinement des insectes. Notre \u00e9quipe va proc\u00e9der \u00e0 la modification de cette souche en introduisant des marqueurs fluorescents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En septembre 2024, le Prof. Frederic Tripet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swisstph.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">de l'Institut Tropical et de Sant\u00e9 Publique Suisse<\/a>, a rejoint l'\u00e9quipe d'ACEME en tant que Directeur de la Recherche, de la Formation et des Partenariats.
